Rolex Unveils Its Second Official Book of the Legendary Datejust

Rolex has once again stepped into the world of publishing, announcing its second official book, Oyster Perpetual Datejust – A Watch That Made History. This follows last year’s debut release, The History of the Oyster Perpetual Submariner Watch, a project that surprised collectors and enthusiasts alike. For decades, fake Rolex has been famously private, rarely offering public insight into its history or design evolution. Yet, as the brand gradually opens its doors to the wider watch community, it now continues this new chapter of storytelling through another collaboration with author Nicholas Foulkes and publisher Wallpaper.  202510216rolex-datejust-28mm-279138rbr-yellow-gold-replica

The new book pays tribute to one of Rolex’s most timeless creations – the Oyster Perpetual Datejust. First unveiled in 1945, the Datejust marked a milestone in horology as the world’s first waterproof, self-winding chronometer wristwatch with a date window at 3 o’clock. In his account, Foulkes explores how Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf envisioned the Datejust as a watch that embodied every technological breakthrough the brand had achieved up to that point. The book promises to illuminate not only the innovation behind the model but also the cultural legacy that has made the Datejust a universal symbol of elegance and precision.

Much like the Submariner volume before it, Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust – A Watch That Made History avoids becoming a dry technical catalog. Instead, it tells a story – one that intertwines craftsmanship, innovation, and influence. Across 224 pages, Foulkes captures the origins of the Datejust and its enduring appeal, while also celebrating the figures who have worn it. The book highlights the presence of Rolex Testimonees – world-renowned athletes, artists, and visionaries – whose accomplishments mirror the watch’s spirit of excellence and timeless design.  more2026

Available for pre-order exclusively through the Wallpaper Store starting 9 September and officially on sale from 29 September, the book will be published in both English and French, priced at £100 or €125. Beginning in October, it will also appear at Official Rolex Retailers worldwide and select independent bookstores.

With this second release, Rolex continues to refine how it tells its own story – through history, design, and the people who bring its watches to life. In doing so, it invites readers not just to learn about a model, but to understand the legacy of a watch that helped define modern watchmaking itself.
